YOU CAN’T OUT TRAIN A BAD DIET

The subject of out training a bad diet is something that comes up a lot more often than you might think. What always strikes me as strange is how a simple change in wording makes people rethink their idea on this.

I will often hear people say “just train hard then you can eat whatever you like”. Surely this comes from a calories in/calories out approach. I’m sure many people hear this statement and will nod their head in agreement. However, if I told you that a diet consisting of 2500 calories from meat, poultry, fruit and vegetables was the same as 2500 calories from kit kats, double deckers and fizzy drinks, you would think I was crazy. Different foods have a different affect on our body’s. Different macronutrient ratios in our diets will produce a very different outcome. The is mainly due to the hormonal effects of foods. EXAMPLE: High sugar diets will lead to an over stimulation of insulin, causing blood sugar levels to rise and crash, which can lead to a greater likelihood of fat gain. This is why the first step on your fat loss journey will often be to eat at maintenance calories but clean up your diet. Make good food choices and you can start the process of burning fat.
